Service Description

Participants will learn the drawing philosophy around Vectorworks, and the core work flow around the software. This course will teach users how to navigate around the Vectorworks interface, such as menu items, view bar, toolbars, palettes, respective sub-sections. This course will also cover document organisation in terms of classes, layers, sheets, viewports, views and document references. By the end of this course, participants will be expected to achieve the following tasks: I. Start a new document in the correct drafting scale settings. II. Import or reference AutoCAD DWG plots to scale. III. Execute simple drawing operations in 2D and 3D. IV. Create a Hybrid symbol with metadata attached. This course is for users who have just begun using Vectorworks, or for those who are exploring the option of adopting Vectorworks on a trial basis and would like a sample of how the software may support drafting needs. The course can also serve as a refresher for long time users who may find new ways of approaching a drawing. Specific to the arts and entertainment industry, practitioners who are involved in set design, lighting design, sound design, as well as stage and production management, may find the use of Vectorworks beneficial to their individual practice. 1. The Vectorworks Fundamental Course will be conducted for a duration of 4 hours, with a 10 minute break halfway through the session. 2. It will be conducted primarily in a presentation format, but there will be opportunities for participants to ask questions. Participants are highly encouraged to follow along with the drafting exercises presented in the course.
