Vectorworks Spotlight

Service Description

Participants will learn how to create a lighting plot from scratch, from referencing .dwg or .pdf files commonly provided by venues for accurate reproduction of 3D environments to final deliverables such as lighting plots. This course will also teach users who are not designers creating plans the anatomy of a lighting plot, and what information can be extracted for use in other departments. By the end of this course, participants will be expected to achieve the following tasks: I. Import or reference AutoCAD DWG and PDF venue drawings. II. Extracting only the relevant information required in these external references. III. Create a Lighting Device, Lighting Position, and simple stage elements. IV. Document presentation for 2D plan views and 3D perspective. V. Reading a lighting plan on traditional print, and using Vectorworks Viewer. This course is for users who have a basic degree of proficiency in Vectorworks, and are looking to expand their skills for drafting presentations. Users who are new to Vectorworks may wish to first attend the Vectorworks Fundamentals course. The Vectorworks Spotlight course can also serve as a refresher for long-time Vectorworks Spotlight users who may find new ways of approaching a drawing. Specific to the arts and entertainment industry, practitioners who are involved in set design, lighting design, sound design, stage technicians, as well as stage, production and technical management, may find the use of Vectorworks Spotlight beneficial to their individual practice. 1. The Vectorworks Spotlight Course will be conducted for a duration of 2 hours, with a 10 minute break halfway through the session. 2. It will be conducted primarily in a presentation format, but there will be opportunities for participants to ask questions. Participants are highly encouraged to follow along with the drafting exercises presented in the course.
